With the New Year comes the opportunity to present new and innovative ideas that the Legion Family can implement in order to continue to grow and thrive in our community. If you were unable to attend our January meetings, the idea of creating a “Suggestions Committee” was presented to each group and we are currently looking for volunteers to assist with this endeavor.

Here is an overview:

Who

Preferably two members from each group (Legion, Auxiliary, S.A.L., and Riders).  Include a mix of newer and younger members to ensure we are supporting the needs and desires of today and in the future of our veterans, membership and community.  The Committee members are not necessarily current Commanders, President, Vice Commanders or Vice Presidents but the ideas of these members are always welcomed and greatly appreciated.

What

Associate with, brainstorm, and bring forward ideas from a wide range of our members and the community we serve.  The goal is to increase our involvement (financial contributions and through volunteerism) in the community, draw in more patrons, improve our facilities and promote growth of the membership.  Gather the ideas and recommendations for consideration by the other existing Committees and the Legion Family Officers. 

Note: The objective of this committee is to gather the ideas, rank them when possible and present them for consideration.  It is not necessary to approve or disregard any of the ideas.  The appropriate Committee, Officers, and Executive Board will then consider the ideas and prioritize those that are approved for implementation.

When

Initially, meet monthly to share the ideas and suggestions that have been gathered. Frequency of meetings may change as the committee moves forward.  When possible, a second meeting, preferably ahead of the scheduled general meetings, will then be held with the Commanders, President, Vice Commanders & Vice Presidents to share the findings.

Next Steps

We would like to move forward as quickly as possible so if you are interested in volunteering to participate or to lead this committee, please reach out to your Commander, President or Director ahead of February monthly meetings if you have not already done so.
