Awards
Congratulations to Kevin Burns, Post volunteer of the year, Lynn Spilman, Auxiliary volunteer of the year and Virgil Eskola, S.A.L. volunteer of the year. Thank you to everyone for their contributions and support of our Legion Family and Community!
Farmers Market Update
Lots of activities at the first Farmers Market of the year. It was great to meet Veterans, Legion Family members, and potential members on May 24th. We were able to raise over $350 for the Poppy Drive, passed out coloring books and small flags to over 100 kids, and presented $3 “Power of Produce” (POP) tokens to Veterans! The new Veteran tokens are available every Saturday by checking in at the Farmers Market registration booth.
There are still a few Saturdays that remain open if anyone would like to utilize the booth. Please check with a Commander, the Auxiliary President, or Kevin Burns if you are interested. Also, keep in mind that the Legion lounge opens at 10am with a Bloody Mary bar special on Saturdays!
Inaugural Memorial 5k Run
Thank you to everyone that participated in presenting colors at the inaugural Memorial 5k run. Over 100 participants joined in on the fun. Hammer Fit Gym established the event and funds raised will support the Park Rapids DAV and the All Veterans Memorial.
Bill Peterson Committal Service
Service will be held on June 9th at 1pm at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Riley. If you are interested in attending and would consider carpooling with others, please reach out to a Commander or Auxiliary President.
June Meetings
In addition to the Executive Committee Meeting on Monday, June 9th, the joint installation of Officers for the upcoming year will be held Tuesday, June 10th, with Happy Hour at 5pm, Potluck Dinner at 6pm, General Membership meeting at 6:30pm, and installation at 7pm. Please join us if you are able.
July Activities
The 4th of July parade is coming up. We are looking for cars, drivers and color guard members to march in the parade. Please let us know how you can help.
Thank you to everyone that supported me as the Commander this past year.
Together, we can make a difference!
